Controlling who can Contact You

When you first download the skype, then only the people in your contact list can see your details and profile picture, or share their screen or video with you. But anyone who searches you can only send you an IM or call you. Theses settings can be changed anytime.

Changing the Privacy Settings

Follow these steps to change the privacy settings or you can also take Skype Help:

  • Open yours skype and in the menu bar click Skype and after that select Privacy. The panel of privacy Settings will be displayed.
  • Control who can make skype to slype calls to you. Under privacy settings, select Anyone or people in my contact list only.
  • Control who can send you videos and share their screen with you. Under the option of Automatically receive video share screens with select between anyone, no one, and people in my contact list only.
  • Control who can send you instant messages. Under the option of Allow IMs, select between anyone or people in my contact list only.
  • If you want to share your profile details with advertisers, check the option of Allow Microsoft targeted ads, including use of Skype profile and gender.

Managing Conversation History

Your conversation history is stored on cloud of Skype for the 30 days. However, you can set your computer to save it for the longer time, if you want or even you can delete it altogether. Managing history will make space and lessens the chances of occurring of issue like Skype Not Responding.

Changing the History Settings

  • Open yours skype and in the menu bar click Skype and after that select Privacy. The panel of privacy Settings will be displayed.
  • Under the option Keep History, click on the drop down list and then select the time for which you want to keep your history. Choose between forever, 3months, 1 month, 2 weeks, or no history options.
  • For deleting the history click on the option of Clear History. This will remove all the history from your device including SMS text messages, send and receive messages, calls, voice messages, instant messages, and video messages.

Blocking a Content

You can prevent any contact from calling you, sending you instant messages, and seeing your status. Follow these steps to block any contact:

  • In Skype on the tab of contents, right click on the contact that you want to block and choose the option of block this person.
  • After that check the option of remove from your Contact List.
  • For reporting about a nuisance contact to Skype, check repot abuse option.
  • Click the option of Block. Now the contact has been removed from your contact list and can’t contact you again.

Unblocking a Content

Follow these steps to unblock any contact:

  • Open yours skype and in the menu bar click Skype and after that select Privacy. The panel of privacy Settings will be displayed.
  • Click the option of Blocked contacts.
  • In the box of blocked people, click the contact that you want to unblock and click on the option unblock this person.
  • The contact will again be added to your contact list.
